Kipinä is now a Certified B Corp! — responsible actions that are visible and tangible

02 | 2026 Olli Laine, CEO & Nora Lindahl, Partner & Operations Manager

Responsibility is not always immediately apparent. It runs in the background, guiding choices and influencing what we build – and what we leave unbuilt.

That is why it is important for us to announce that Kipinä is now a Certified B Corp™. The certification highlights the core principle that has guided our operations from the very beginning: responsibility that is not just talk but proven action.

The B Corp certification does not mean that we are “ready.” It means that our operations have been evaluated externally and that we are committed to developing them systematically and transparently. The certification provides us with a clear framework and a level of requirements that we will continue to strive for in the future.

What is B Corp certification?

B Corp™, or Benefit Corporation, is an international sustainability certification awarded to companies that meet high standards of social and environmental responsibility, transparency, and governance.

Certification is not a marketing slogan; it is based on B Lab's rigorous assessment process, which evaluates a company's overall impact in five key categories: environment, employees, customers, stakeholders, and governance. This is not a single project, but an assessment and direction of the entire business model and operating methods.

Certification is an ongoing process, and the assessment is repeated regularly as the requirements become more stringent. For us, this means that the development work does not end here. Certification provides us with a clear structure for critically and measurably assessing and developing our operations.

What does B Corp certification mean for us?

Responsibility has been part of Kipinä's thinking from the very beginning. In terms of environmental responsibility, this means, for example, systematically measuring and reducing our carbon footprint, offsetting emissions, and making informed choices regarding our premises, purchases, and travel. But it is particularly evident in the way we build co-ownership, shared decision-making, and a thriving work community, as well as in the fact that we also consider the long-term impacts of our operations and technology.

At the same time, we recognize that responsibility is not a static state. Digital development, customer business pressures, and rapid technological change bring with them situations where choices are not straightforward. We cannot decide alone what kind of technological solutions will emerge in the world or what kind of impact our customers' business models will have.

However, we can influence our own activities and the nature of the discussions we have with our customers. For us, B Corp means a commitment to responsible everyday practices and decision-making, examining the long-term impacts of technology solutions, and actively incorporating a responsibility perspective into our customer work.

B Corp means a reliable partnership in digital solutions for our customers

For our customers, B Corp™ certification means a reliable and transparent partnership. When we build digital solutions together, responsibility is not just a separate goal or an additional layer of communication, but part of strategic discussion and decision-making.

Kipinä is a partner that acts responsibly in its own operations and considers the impact of technology more broadly than just from a technical implementation perspective. This means that we take into account the long-term effects of solutions and dare to discuss ethical issues as well.

For many organizations, responsibility is increasingly becoming a prerequisite for competitiveness and risk management. Responsible choices are often made through compromise, prioritization, and open dialogue. Our role is to bring expertise, perspective, and options to the table—not to moralize, but also not to ignore the impacts. We want to be a partner with whom these issues can be examined honestly and with a view to finding the most sustainable solution.
